“I’m Constance Langdon, and this is my (bleeping) house.” AMERICAN HORROR STORY: APOCALYPSE gave us the flashback episode that we’ve all been hanging out in literal purgatory, waiting for: it took us back to the place where it all began. In AHS veteran actress Sarah Paulson’s confident directorial debut, we took a “Return to Murder House,” for the season’s sixth episode this week– and it did not disappoint.
Sunday night at the 90th Academy Awards, comedian/writer/director Jordan Peele made history, as he accepted a Best Original Screenplay Oscar for his little social-thriller-movie-that-could, Get Out. Perhaps because of the current push of the “Me Too” and “Time’s Up” equality/inclusion movements happening in Hollywood at the moment, the Academy took notice of this small budgeted, Blumhouse-produced, indie horror movie- that those of us who live, breathe, and die horror had been waiting for months before its actual release in February 2017. On Saturday, November 18th- (I’m late posting this, too busy stuffing my face with Thanksgiving food and all)- I had the opportunity to check out horror god John Carpenter’s Anthology Tour, where he and his band performed some of his best musical scores from his famous films, as well as his own solo compositions that are not featured (but should be!) in any major motion picture or project.
